Just 15 minutes from Rovaniemi lies a tranquil husky kennel tucked deep within a serene Arctic forest. This hidden gem offers a peaceful escape from city life, where enthusiastic huskies and unspoiled nature exist in perfect balance. The moment you arrive, it feels like you've discovered a secret world surrounded by snowy silence.

This family-operated Husky Kennel in Rovaniemi is home to approximately 50 cherished sled dogs, including Siberian Huskies, Alaskan-Arctic mixes, and even reindeer dogs. Each dog has its own name and story, making every encounter personal and unforgettable. On arrival, friendly professional mushers greet you warmly, introducing you to your team with genuine care and enthusiasm.

Before your ride begins, your guide will walk you through the basics of sledding - how to brake, steer, and balance effectively. These straightforward techniques ensure you feel confident before taking off. If you’d rather enjoy the scenery from the passenger seat, you can pre-book a musher-guided sled ride instead.

Then, it’s time for adventure! Embark on a 2-kilometer self-driven husky ride through quiet, snow-covered forest trails. The journey lasts around 15 minutes and includes a midway pause, allowing you and your companion to switch sledding roles if desired.

After the ride, take a few moments to thank your husky team - these heartfelt interactions often become the most memorable part of the day. Then, enjoy a guided tour of the kennel, meeting more of the pack and learning about their training routines, daily life, and the strong bond they share with their mushers.

One of the most unique aspects of this husky safari experience is the free-roaming husky zone. Here, selected dogs can run and play off-leash within a spacious fenced area. Visitors are welcome to enter, pet the dogs, and take relaxed photos in a calm, dog-friendly environment - a rare chance to connect on the dogs’ terms.

Our goal is to provide an intimate, unhurried experience. Whether you’re gliding through the forest, interacting with the huskies, or warming up afterward, you’ll never feel rushed. We believe in giving you space to truly savor each moment.

Your visit concludes inside a cozy traditional yurt, gathered around an open fire. Sip hot berry juice, snack on homemade cookies, and listen to stories of northern husky life shared by your hosts - the perfect ending to a meaningful Arctic day.

At the heart of it all is our deep respect for the dogs. The huskies enjoy large, clean enclosures, plenty of rest, and daily human interaction. Training is built on trust, and each dog is treated with love and care. Their happiness and well-being are always our top priority.

RECOMMENDATION

We strongly recommend wearing warm winter clothing. It can be rented separately before departure at extra charge.

It’s better to be dressed overly warm than “underdressed”, especially on longer safari programs. In cold weather, we recommend applying no-water-based winter cream for face and cover open skin areas tightly. Bring gloves or better mittens, a good hat, hand/foot warmers and goggles.

Please take off your gloves/mittens when touching the huskies. They love to play with gloves and might break them easily. Do not be afraid of dogs, as they are genetically friendly to people. Do not feed the dogs.

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 7 days or less before the event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 21 days or less before the event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 365 days or less before the event

INCLUDED

PLEASE NOTE

Please always bear in mind that one sledge can take max. 2 adults + 1 small child (under 7 y.o.). The final decision about seating is made by the host on the spot, as it may depend on the participants’ weight, height, etc.

When your party is 2 people: 1 adult + a child older than 7 y.o., you can sit in one sled, paying adult price and child price.

When your party is 3 people: 2 adults + a child older than 7 y.o., one of the 3 people will have to share a sled with another participant.

Single supplements are not available for this program.

Note: As a rule of thumb, we take small groups of up to 8 people per ride (4 sled teams). If your group is larger, we’ll split it into two and run the program in rotating turns, ensuring every guest enjoys a personal and unrushed experience.

Musher-driven option is available only when booked in advance.
