Korouoma national park and Frozen waterfalls
Ancient bedrock cracks unveil stunning frozen waterfalls, creating a magical winter experience for visitors.
Korouoma is a 30-kilometer-long geological fracture valley in Posio. It is a part of a fracture zone in the bedrock, which is hundreds of millions of years old. At the center of Korouoma, the fracture valley forms a gorge with high cliff faces. Small streams which cascade down the cliff face in the summer, freeze into beautiful frozen waterfalls during winter, making Korouoma the number one ice climbing destination in Finland.
