Deeper Arctic Husky Safari in the snowy forests of Rovaniemi
Explore Deeper Arctic Trails with Our Extended Husky Safari in Rovaniemi
Step further into the peaceful wilderness near Rovaniemi on this extended husky safari - a longer, more immersive version of our popular forest-based husky experience. Just a 15-minute drive from the city, our secluded husky kennel offers a quiet Arctic setting where nature and dogs coexist in harmony.
Our family-operated husky kennel in Rovaniemi is home to around 50 happy and active huskies, including Siberian, Arctic-Alaskan, and reindeer dog breeds. Each has its own name, character, and story. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by professional mushers who are passionate about working with their sled teams and excited to share the experience with you.
Before you head out, your guide will teach you how to control the sled using safe and simple techniques - braking, balancing, and interacting with your dogs respectfully. For guests who prefer to relax and enjoy the ride, it’s also possible to pre-book a musher-driven sled operated by an experienced guide.
This extended husky ride covers a 5-kilometer trail through scenic, snow-draped forest. With more time on the sled, you'll be able to build a stronger connection with the dogs and take in the natural surroundings at a comfortable pace. The ride lasts around 20–30 minutes and includes the option to switch drivers halfway if you’re sharing a sled.
After the sledding tour, you’ll have a moment to thank your husky team - a chance to take photos, pet the dogs, and simply enjoy being with them. Next, your guide will lead you on a walk through the kennel, where you’ll meet more of the pack and learn about their training routines, care, and the strong relationships between mushers and dogs.
A favorite part of the visit is the free-roaming husky zone - a large, enclosed space where selected huskies can run and play freely. Guests are invited to enter the area, interact with the dogs, and take relaxed, natural photos. It’s a fun and genuine way to spend time with the huskies beyond the sled experience.
Our approach focuses on keeping the experience personal and unhurried. Whether you’re out on the trail, exploring the kennel, or simply spending time with the dogs, you’ll have the time and space to enjoy every moment at your own pace.
The visit wraps up in a cozy yurt, where you’ll warm up by the open fire with a cup of hot berry juice and homemade cookies. Your hosts will be happy to answer questions and share stories about life with huskies in Lapland.
Most importantly, the welfare of our dogs is central to everything we do. The huskies live in large, clean enclosures, enjoy regular rest days, and are trained using kindness and trust. Their health, happiness, and enthusiasm are always our priority - and it’s clear in every eager bark and wagging tail.

RECOMMENDATION
We strongly recommend wearing warm winter clothing. It can be rented separately before departure at extra charge.
It’s better to be dressed overly warm than “underdressed”, especially on longer safari programs. In cold weather, we recommend applying no-water-based winter cream for face and cover open skin areas tightly. Bring gloves or better mittens, a good hat, hand/foot warmers and goggles.
Please take off your gloves/mittens when touching the huskies. They love to play with gloves and might break them easily. Do not be afraid of dogs, as they are genetically friendly to people. Do not feed the dogs.
