The theme changes every year. Past seasons have included Game of Thrones (2018 and 2019, which drew global media attention), Macro World, Futuristic, Around the World, Nordic Mythology, Underworld, and the Underwater World in 2024–2025. For the 2025–2026 season — the Snow Village’s 25th anniversary — the theme is Pure Celebration: circuses, international festivals, a Rio de Janeiro carnival area, and an ice bar dressed in the colours of Ireland. The 2026–2027 theme will be confirmed and updated later. The Visit — Guided Tour, Ice Bar and Free Exploration The tour travels from Levi centre to Lainio, approximately 40 minutes each way. On arrival, a guided tour takes the group through the current year’s exhibition: decorated rooms, hand-carved sculptures, illuminated corridors and the ice bar. At the end of the guided section, warm berry juice is served in the ice bar. Guests then have free time to explore the exhibition at their own pace before the return journey. Once everyone is ready, the guide leads the group away from Levi and into the snow-covered landscape. The snowmobile journey is an important part of the experience. Forest scenery and winter trails gradually lead towards a small private river, where the group stops for the ice-fishing part of the program. The private setting gives the fishing stop a calm and secluded atmosphere, with space to slow down and experience the Arctic surroundings. Ice fishing on a private river At the river, the guide introduces the ice-fishing equipment and explains how to fish through the winter ice. No previous ice-fishing experience is required. Guests can settle beside their fishing spots, try the technique and enjoy the stillness of the river and surrounding landscape. Ice fishing has a naturally unhurried rhythm. Part of the experience is waiting, watching the line and spending time outdoors in the winter silence. A catch cannot be guaranteed, as fishing always depends on natural conditions and the activity of the fish. Kota lunch The safari also includes a stop in a traditional kota, where lunch is served. The kota provides a comfortable place to warm up, rest and enjoy the meal before continuing the program. After the fishing and lunch stop, the group returns by snowmobile with the guide. The result is a well-balanced winter experience that combines snowmobile riding, time beside a private river and a relaxed kota lunch in the Lappish wilderness. Clients are liable for damage caused to snowmobiles. The tour price includes accident insurance with a maximum deductible of €950 per driver. The deductible can be reduced to €350 by purchasing a waiver (€35) at the time of booking or in the office before departure. If the driver does not follow the Finnish Road Traffic Act or guide’s instructions, all damages must be paid in full — waivers and deductibles do not apply. Personal injuries: Snowmobile programs can be physically demanding. Snowmobiling is not recommended for pregnant women or people with back or hip problems. Guests with heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy or other relevant conditions should consult a medical professional before participating. Each participant is personally responsible for assessing their ability to take part. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. Driver’s licence: Finnish law requires snowmobile drivers to be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence accepted in Finland. Accepted licences: categories B, T, A1 or A issued in EU/EEA countries or countries party to the Geneva or Vienna Conventions, or otherwise officially recognised by Finland. Electronic licences are not officially accepted. A licence issued in a country not recognised by Finland is not valid for driving a snowmobile - the holder may only participate as a passenger. Alcohol and drugs: Tolerance is zero. Finnish law strictly prohibits driving a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Drivers may be breathalysed before departure. Participation will be denied if under the influence; no refund applies. Speed and trails: The official speed limit for snowmobiles in Finland is 60 km/h. Driving is only permitted on marked trails. Cold temperature and weather related modifications and cancellations Snowmobile safaris are cancelled when the outside temperature falls below -35°C (-31°F). In the event of cancellation, the tour can be rescheduled to another date or refunded in full if rescheduling is not suitable. For safaris involving children, the minimum temperature limit is -25°C (-13°F). Between -25°C and -35°C, safaris may be modified — for example, with a shorter riding distance or additional warming breaks. These modifications are made in the interest of guest comfort and safety and are not subject to compensation or refund. We strongly recommend that a small child in the sleigh is accompanied by an adult or older child rather than riding alone. Adults riding in the sleigh still pay adult price. Solo supplement and odd number of participants: solo supplement is available for guests who wish to drive alone. If your group has an odd number of adults, the unpaired person must either purchase a solo supplement or be prepared to share a snowmobile with another unmatched participant, with each driving for half the route. If no match can be found, the unpaired participant will not be able to join the safari. Driver requirement: every snowmobile must have at least one adult driver for the full route. If one adult in your party does not wish to drive, the other must drive the entire way. Contact us before booking if any member of your group does not wish to drive. Drivers and passengers may swap places halfway through the route. Child age: 3–12 years. Children under 130 cm ride in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Child price applies only to children riding in the sleigh, regardless of height. Children over 130 cm who can reach the footrests may ride on the snowmobile behind an adult driver — in this case adult price applies. If a child was booked at child price but is tall enough to ride on the snowmobile, the family may choose to upgrade on the day at adult price, or the child may remain in the sleigh at the original child price. The camp gives the evening a fixed base in the wilderness, with the warmth of the Aurora Dome close at hand throughout the program. On arrival, the Polarman welcomes the group and introduces the evening. He is the storyteller and Aurora watcher for the program, sharing the world of Northern Lights hunting, the stories connected to the sky and what to look for as conditions change. Inside the warm Aurora Dome Inside the heated Aurora Dome, guests settle onto reindeer skins beside the fireplace. The temperature stays at approximately +15°C or warmer, making the dome a comfortable place to sit, warm up and spend time between periods outside. A short Northern Lights film is shown on a large screen, followed by stories and legends about the Aurora. Hot berry juice or the Polarman's special magic drink is served with ginger cookies while the guide keeps an eye on the northern sky. Snowmobile sled ride to the frozen lake During the evening, the group takes a short snowmobile sled ride to a nearby frozen lake. The shoreline is approximately 500 to 600 metres from the camp. Guests sit in the sled while the guide drives the snowmobile, so no snowmobile driving is required. At the lake, the forest opens into a broad, unobstructed horizon. The open view across the frozen surface gives the group a clear line of sight towards the northern sky and a different setting for watching the night. After spending time at the lake, the group returns to Polarman's Camp by snowmobile sled. Watching the Northern Lights The Polarman watches the sky throughout the program. If signs of Aurora activity appear, guests head outside to make the most of the conditions, either from the forest clearing or during the visit to the frozen lake. Northern Lights sightings depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. A photo and video session is available if requested. When the Aurora appears, the guide can photograph guests beneath the northern sky. Firepit under the Arctic sky Back at the camp, the outdoor firepit is a natural place to spend the rest of the evening. Guests can grill traditional Finnish sausage and marshmallows, have a warm drink and keep watching the sky. The heated Aurora Dome remains available whenever it is time to warm up.
