According to Finnish law, to drive a snowmobile one should be at least 15 years old and have a valid driver's license of category B, T, A1, or A (i.e. car or motorbike). Alcohol tolerance is zero, drivers will have to pass an alcohol test before the safari. A second passenger can sit behind the driver on the snowmobile if the person's minimum height is 140 cm and his/her feet can fully reach the footrests. Otherwise, this person should be seated in the sled. The sled is always pulled by the guide's snowmobile. The sled has an open top and can take up to 8 persons. It's advised that a small child seated in a sleigh is accompanied by an adult. The maximum speed limit is 60 km/h and 80 km/h on the lakes. Driving is only allowed on marked trails. Personal injuries: Snowmobile programs can be physically demanding. Snowmobiling is not recommended for pregnant women or people with back or hip problems. Guests with heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy or other relevant conditions should consult a medical professional before participating. Each participant is personally responsible for assessing their ability to take part. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. Driver’s licence: Finnish law requires snowmobile drivers to be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence accepted in Finland. Accepted licences: categories B, T, A1 or A issued in EU/EEA countries or countries party to the Geneva or Vienna Conventions, or otherwise officially recognised by Finland. Electronic licences are not officially accepted. A licence issued in a country not recognised by Finland is not valid for driving a snowmobile — the holder may only participate as a passenger. Alcohol and drugs: Tolerance is zero. Finnish law strictly prohibits driving a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Drivers may be breathalysed before departure. Participation will be denied if under the influence; no refund applies. Speed and trails: The official speed limit for snowmobiles in Finland is 60 km/h. Driving is only permitted on marked trails. Please bring your driving licence — police patrols operate on snowmobile tracks. STG reserves the right to adjust routes, schedules or durations due to weather, safety or participant health. STG may discontinue the safari if a participant is considered a danger to themselves or others or is in poor health. Cold temperature and weather related modifications and cancellations Snowmobile safaris are cancelled when the outside temperature falls below -35°C (-31°F). In the event of cancellation, the tour can be rescheduled to another date or refunded in full if rescheduling is not suitable. For safaris involving children, the minimum temperature limit is -25°C (-13°F). Between -25°C and -35°C, safaris may be modified — for example, with a shorter riding distance or additional warming breaks. These modifications are made in the interest of guest comfort and safety and are not subject to compensation or refund. By the time the door opens, the anticipation builds on its own. Arrival at the Santa secret cabin Guests are welcomed by Santa himself, Rudolf the reindeer, and the Elf. There is time to photograph the magic sleigh outside before heading in. With a group of 20-25 people, the cabin feels lively but still personal. Santa program Santa tells the story of Finnish and Nordic Christmas traditions - how Christmas is celebrated in Lapland, what the season means to the people who live here, and why this corner of the world became Santa’s home. Then every child is called forward personally, comes to sit with Santa, shares their secret wish, and receives a surprise gift - given by Santa’s own hand, in front of the whole group. This is the Finnish way - open and communal, where every child’s moment is shared by the whole room. Then Santa leads the whole group in traditional Christmas songs - carols that belong to the Finnish Christmas season, sung together in the warmth of the cabin. If time allows, a Christmas dance follows. These are not performance moments; they are participation moments, and the difference is felt. Gingerbread workshop with Mrs. Claus Mrs. Claus hosts the gingerbread workshop: making, baking and decorating, with the Elf on hand to wrap the finished cookies for the journey home. Before you book - a few things worth knowing Our program is built on Finnish and Nordic Christmas traditions - which are real and meaningful here, but don’t always match what guests from other countries expect. A few things worth knowing before you arrive: Children’s names: Learning children’s names is the Elf’s job - and they always try their best. Children’s letters: Drop your child’s letter at our Safarimarket office in Levi before 12:00 on the program day. Letters are placed in Santa’s post station. Santa may not have time to read every letter during the program - we cannot guarantee he will pick your child’s letter specifically. Special personal gifts: In the group program, every child receives the same standard surprise gift from Santa. Bringing personal gifts from parents is not part of the group program - it would not be fair to the other children. Personal gifts can be arranged on a private booking. Daylight: In November and December, days in Lapland are short and it starts to get dark already after 2 pm - and that is exactly when our Santa program runs. Remember: the magic starts outside. Candlelight glows around the cabin, reflected in the white snow, and the blue Arctic dusk wraps everything in a blue light that bright daylight simply cannot match. These vehicles are just what young girls and boys dream of – a replica of an adult snowmobile, but lighter. This activity is suitable for children 4-12 years (with height up to 140 cm). Children can also play in the snow. Snow games and fun guarantees a playful tour. There is time to relax by a campfire also, have a cup of warm berry juice.. The riding time on snowmobiles is approximately 45 min. The average speed during our tours is limited due to the safety and traffic regulations. Two adults ride on one snowmobile, single riding supplement for an extra charge. Children are traveling in the sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. INCLUDED PLEASE NOTE Pricing notes: Standard price is given for one person on a double snowmobile or in a sled. Solo driving is available as a supplement. Child price is valid for a child under 140 cm seated in a sleigh. Insurance covers accidents with a maximum driver excess of 1500 €. You can buy a waiver for 20 € to lower the excess to 350 €. The waiver is available to buy only on the spot. According to Finnish law, to drive a snowmobile one should be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license of category B, T, A1, or A (i.e. car or motorbike). Alcohol tolerance is zero, drivers will have to pass an alcohol test before the safari. A second passenger can sit behind the driver on the snowmobile if the person's minimum height is 140 cm and his/her feet can fully reach the footrests. Otherwise, this person should be seated in the sled. The sled is always pulled by the guide's snowmobile. The sled has an open top and can take up to 8 persons. It's advised that a small child seated in a sleigh is accompanied by an adult. The maximum speed limit is 60 km/h and 80 km/h on the lakes. Driving is only allowed on marked trails.
