Classic snowmobile safari - discover Lapland’s unique snowy nature and the fun of snowmobiling.
Unveil the Arctic's Charms!
Local Lappish people claim that snowmobiling is the best way to see the beauties of the Arctic region. In Levi area there are nearly 1000 km of maintained marked snowmobile trails with signs and own special rules with the main principle of safety. This snowmobile safari takes us through snow covered forests and lakes near the Levi fell.
You'll change into gear, guaranteed to keep you warm and dry during the safari
A unique feature of this tour is that a substantial part of the route runs through privately owned land, ensuring a fully private and uninterrupted experience. These exclusive trails are reserved for our groups only - no other snowmobiles or vehicles are allowed, giving you a true sense of Arctic isolation and serenity.
The tour starts with a pickup from Levi and a transfer to our safari house. There, you’ll gear up with thermal equipment: a snowmobile suit, boots, mittens, helmet, balaclava, and woolen socks - all designed to keep you warm and dry.
Your guide will provide a safety briefing and driving instructions and then you’re ready to hit the trail.

RECOMMENDATION
Please take your driving license with you on the snowmobile safari as the police may check the validity of the license during the safari.
We recommend wearing thermo body-wear + multilayer clothing and woolen socks. You will get warm outer clothing and boots before the safari.
For those people who consider self-rental: out there you’ll be surrounded by almost total whiteness, so it’s quite easy to lose one’s way for the first time, that’s why to guarantee the quality time, we highly recommend for the first time to go on an organized safari with an experienced local guide.

Damages to snowmobiles
All snowmobiles used in our safaris are insured as required by Finnish law. Coverage is subject to the Finnish Motor Liability Insurance Act, related regulations, and applicable laws of Finland.
Clients participating in safaris are liable for damages caused to snowmobiles. The tour price includes accident insurance with a maximum deductible of €950 per driver. You can reduce the deductible to €350 by purchasing a waiver (€35). The waiver must be purchased at the time of booking online or in our office before the start of the safari.
If the driver does not follow the Finnish Road Traffic Act or the instructions given by our guide, all damages to the snowmobile must be paid in full (deductibles and waivers do not apply).
Personal injuries
Snowmobile programs can be physically demanding and participants may be exposed to physical strain (for example, bumps along the route). Therefore, snowmobiling is not recommended for pregnant women or people with back problems.
If a Client has any illnesses or disabilities (such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, back or hip problems) that could affect their ability to participate, or if they are pregnant, they should consult medical experts before departure. Each participant is personally responsible for assessing their own ability to take part in the activity.
STG may only be held liable for personal injuries or material damage caused by negligence of STG, its employees, or subcontractors, or by faulty equipment, and only during the delivery of services under this Contract. STG is not liable for accidental injuries or damages that fall under the Client’s personal travel insurance. Comprehensive travel insurance is always strongly recommended.
Practical information
Finnish law requires snowmobile drivers to be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license (B, T, A1, or A). Drivers must carry their license during the safari, as police patrols also operate on snowmobile tracks.
Alcohol tolerance is zero. Finnish law strictly prohibits driving a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol. Drivers may be breathalyzed before departure. Participation will be denied if under the influence of alcohol; no refund applies.
The official speed limit for snowmobiles in Finland is 60 km/h; driving is only permitted on marked trails. Average snowmobile speed: 30–40 km/h (per safety regulations).
Two adults share one snowmobile unless a solo driving supplement is booked.
Snowmobile passengers must be at least 130 cm tall and able to reach the footrests. Children under 130 cm ride in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile.
Safaris are not recommended for children under 3 years. Please contact us in advance if you plan to bring infants.
Sleighs (open-top, max. 8 persons) are always pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Small children must be accompanied by an adult.
As the responsible safari organizer, STG reserves the right to adjust routes, schedules, and durations of excursions if required by weather, safety, or participant comfort. STG also reserves the right to discontinue the safari if a participant is considered a danger to themselves or others, or is in poor health.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
New Wilderness Snowmobile Safari Base in Levi
Exciting news from Levi! During the summer 2025, we completed the first stage of construction for our upcoming Wilderness Snowmobile Safari Base - the wooden foundation is now ready, and the traditional Lappish kota will soon be added.
The base is located amidst several hectares of privately owned swampland with lots of snow, small trees, and wide visibility. This type of open landscape is perfect for both safe mini-snowmobile riding for children and clear sky views for Northern Lights observation. The entire area is completely closed to the public and reserved exclusively for our guests.
A large, traditional Lappish kota will soon be built on the wooden base, providing warmth from an open fire, soft reindeer skins underfoot, and space for up to 20 people to gather for a warming, relaxing break during the ride. Simple, authentic, and full of atmosphere.
Thanks to the open terrain and total lack of light pollution, this location is ideal for our Night Snowmobile Safaris, offering perfect skyline visibility for spotting the Aurora Borealis in a peaceful, natural setting.
All of our snowmobile safaris include a significant portion of the route laid on private land, fully owned and maintained by us. This ensures a truly exclusive and undisturbed experience — a real wilderness journey without seeing other people, just your group and the snowy Arctic stillness.
We specialize in small group safaris, allowing every guest to enjoy a more personal, comfortable, and immersive experience, whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth.
