However this is a physical activity and can be challenging if you have not pedalled in many many years. Also if you are not familiar with bicycles at all, this ride might be a bit challenging one. Our smallest electric fat bikes suits around 150cm long riders. The northern weather might do its tricks now and then. When the winter cycling route is in good condition riding is very easy and flowy. Like a roller coaster where you decide the speed and intensity. After snow storm riding might be more difficult and we may have to change the route plans on the go. 99,9% of the time we will find good and fun riding and we get to the top of Ounasvaara hill and back during the ride! We have a good knowledge of the conditions out in the trails. If the conditions are not suitable for high quality riding, we let you know and you can decide if you still want to go or to cancel the trip with full refund. When the winter cycling route is in good condition riding is very easy and flowy. Like a roller coaster where you decide the speed and intensity. After snow storm riding might be more difficult and we may have to change the route plans on the go. 99,9% of the time we will find good and fun riding and we get to the top of Ounasvaara hill and back during the ride! Travel time from Levi to Jukkasjarvi is about 4 hours one way. Excursion duration, including lunch, is about 3 hours. Icehotel is the world's most famous hotel and an art exhibition made of ice and snow. Founded in 1989, it is reborn in a new guise every winter. Since 2016 a whole new ice experience is to be enjoyed alongside the classic Icehotel experience. ICEHOTEL 365 is a permanent structure and year-round ice experience in 2,100 m2 with 20 luxury suites, each with a heated area of private relaxation and bathroom, art suites, all sculptured by selected artists, ice bar that serves champagne and drinks, as well as an ice gallery – all created out of snow and ice. Around 30,000 liters of water from Torne River has transformed into snow and several tons of ice have been harvested from the river to create both parts of Icehotel. This ice experience is cooled by solar panels during the summer months. Icehotel is an art symposium in a class of its own. The energy released here when creative people from a wide variety of backgrounds and places meet the ice is almost tangible. Each year some 40 artists are taking part in Icehotel. The name Jukkasjärvi comes from a Sami word that roughly translates as "meeting place by the water", as the village was historically an important marketplace. At Icehotel, too, meetings take center stage – the meetings between Jukkasjärvi residents and visitors, between different cultures, between people and nature, and between ice and creativity. WHAT'S INCLUDED PLEASE NOTE MEETING POINTS WATCH VIDEO Discover the peaceful charm of a hidden husky kennel just 15 minutes from Levi, tucked away in the heart of a snowy Lappish forest. As you arrive, you’ll be greeted by excited barks and the stillness of untouched winter nature - it feels like stepping into a quiet, magical world where huskies thrive in harmony with the wild surroundings. This small, family-run kennel is home to about 70 well-cared-for dogs, including Siberian and Arctic-Alaskan huskies, plus a few rare reindeer dogs. Each dog is known by name and has its own quirks and charm. Your musher will personally introduce you to your sled team, creating an instant bond that makes the ride more special. Before heading out, your guide will explain how to mush, how to steer, brake, and follow the trail rules. Then it’s time to meet your team, already harnessed and ready to run, full of energy and anticipation. You’ll set off on a scenic 5-6 km husky ride through snowy woods and quiet open spaces. Unlike river trails, this path winds through a more sheltered and intimate landscape. The ride lasts roughly 15 minutes and includes a pause where the driver and passenger can swap positions if desired. After the sledding, you’ll have time to give your huskies a well-earned thank-you and snap a few photos. You’ll then join a guided walk around the kennel, where you’ll meet more of the dogs and hear fascinating insights into daily routines, training methods, and the mushers' deep connection to their animals. The visit includes access to a free-run area where some of the dogs can stretch, play, and interact freely. Visitors are welcome to step inside and enjoy relaxed photo moments in a natural setting. To wrap up the experience, you’ll be invited into a warm and cozy space - either a modern yurt or a traditional Lappish kota. Here, by the fire, you can sip on hot berry juice, nibble cookies, and hear more about husky life in the Arctic from your welcoming hosts. The kennel operates with the dogs’ welfare at its core: huskies live in spacious pens, enjoy regular rest days, and are trained using positive reinforcement and trust. The dogs’ joy is easy to see, especially when they’re about to run, howling and wagging their tails in excitement. RECOMMENDATION We don’t recommend this program for small children (under 4 y.o.) due to longer time outdoors. We strongly recommend wearing warm winter clothing. It can be rented separately before departure from the STG / Safarimarket office in Levi center at extra charge. If you want to rent the clothing, please be at least 20 min before pick up time to get dressed. It’s better to be dressed overly warm than “underdressed”, especially on longer safari programs. In cold weather, we recommend applying no-water based winter cream for face and cover open skin areas tightly. Bring gloves or better mittens, a good hat, hand/foot warmers and goggles. Please take off your gloves/mittens when touching the huskies. They love to play with gloves and might break it easily. Do not be afraid of dogs, as they are genetically friendly to people. The final decision about seating is made by the host on the spot, as it may depend on the participants’ weight, height, etc. When your party is 2 people: 1 adult + a child older than 7 y.o., you can sit in one sled, paying adult price and child price. When your party is 3 people: 2 adults + a child older than 7 y.o., one of the 3 people will have to share a sled with another participant. This is easy riding tour and suitable for anybody who can ride a bike; only flat roads and easy forest paths. We take you through the city center to some of the most beautiful river banks. We also ride on the frozen river ice when it’s possible and safe. Our professional biking guide can show you not only the wonder of winter, but some sweet single tracks a stone's throw away from the city centre. This tour happens with electric assisted fatbikes. You need to pedal, but the electric motor makes it easy and fun for riders in any fit. On this tour you will also see the beautiful riverside and even some of the architectural pearls of Rovaniemi. We ride by old Marttiini knife factory and Arktikum, over the Lumberjack Bridge and at the end of the tour we will pass by the library designed by Alvar Aalto himself. NOT INCLUDED Your own outdoor clothing Your own travel insurance RECOMMENDATION During winter season weather can be anything from snow storm and -1°C to crispy -25°C. It's possible to ride almost in any weather and you really can do something to make your ride best possible. Clothing recommended: - Thermal underwear (double when colder than -18°C) - Mid layer - Winter jacket and trousers - Warm gloves or mittens - Winter shoes with double socks - Balaclava or thin beanie under helmet. Note long jacket might stuck in to the back wheel and causes unpleasant situations.
