The night safari
The safari house is tucked in a private forest clearing minutes from Levi. Step out of the transfer and the resort is already gone - it is dark, it is quiet, and the only light is the one the guide carries. The route runs on Levi’s public marked trails and sections of privately owned land that only STG guests can access. When the trail turns onto private ground, the last of the other snowmobiles disappears. The pace stays at 30-45 km/h throughout, no sleigh, no reason to slow down.
When the engines stop, the Arctic night begins.
Halfway through the safari, switch off the snowmobiles and step into the silence. The kota stands alone on a frozen swamp, surrounded by open sky. The fire is already burning, the drinks are hot and there is nothing to do for a while except grill a sausage and look up. Guests grill sausage, pour hot drinks, and look up. The northern lights cannot be promised - they depend on solar activity and a clear night - but the position is among the best in the Levi area for seeing them when they come. After the stop, the second half of the ride back through the dark forest.
