WHERE YOUR ACTIVITY ACTUALLY TAKING PLACE?
Rovaniemi is more spread out than it may look on a map. Check the meeting point and transfer information before booking.
DON´T BOOK YOUR DAYS LIKE A CHECKLIST
Transfers, changing into winter clothing, meals and short daylight hours all take time.
FIVE QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING BEFORE YOU BOOK
1. How much actual activity time do I get?
A 3-hour programme does not necessarily mean 3 hours on a husky sled or snowmobile. Look at transfers, instruction, farm visits and breaks.
2. Is transportation included?
Meeting in central Rovaniemi, hotel pickup and transfer from a safari office are 3 different things.
3. Is it suitable for my children, not just allowed?
Minimum age tells only part of the story. Consider outdoor time, temperature, ride length and whether children drive, sit in a sled or travel behind a snowmobile.
4. Am I paying for the activity or exclusivity?
Check group size. A similar-looking experience can feel very different with 8 guests versus a large departure.
5. What happens if nature doesn't cooperate?
Snow, temperature and Northern Lights are natural conditions. Understand what the experience is worth even if the aurora doesn't appear.
CHOOSING A NORTHERN LIGHTS TOUR IN ROVANIEMI
Different styles of Northern Lights tours offer different experiences. Please keep in mind, no tour can control the Northern Lights. When comparing tours, look at mobility, duration, group size, guiding approach and what the evening offers even without an aurora display.
WHEN ARE YOU VISITING ROVANIEMI?
Each part of the season is different. Choose experiencies that match the time of your trip.
November
Early winter
Snow conditions vary more; daylight is rapidly decreasing and winter activities gradually open.
December
Christmas & Polar Night
The busiest and most festive period. Santa experiences and small-capacity activities should be booked early.
Jan - Feb
Deep winter
Cold, snowy and excellent for classic winter experiences. February brings noticeably more daylight.
Mar - Early April
Light & snow
Longer days and often more comfortable conditions for outdoor activities, while snowy landscapes remain. Northern Lights are still possible during dark hours.
WE COMPARE ROVANIEMI DIFFERENTLY
Not by title. By what actually happens.
We look at ride time, transfers, group format, location and the actual content of each experience.
Not every tour suits every traveller.
A family with a four-year-old, a couple looking for wilderness and a group of adults wanting adventure should not automatically book the same bestseller.
Your day matters as much as the activity.
We consider where you are staying and what else you are doing before and after.
