WHY YOU´LL LOVE IT
Learn to control a kart on ice - studded tyres provide grip while still allowing you to experience the slides, corrections and throttle control that make winter driving so different.
Drive twice, not just once - two 15-minute sessions give you time to learn the track during the first run and return for a second attempt after the break.
No driving licence or previous karting experience required - after a safety briefing and driving instructions, beginners can get straight onto the ice.
Everything you need for racing is provided - helmet, balaclava, overalls, gloves and shoes are waiting at the track.
THE EXPERIENCE
Ice Karting in Levi - Race on a Frozen Track
Drive a kart with studded tyres on a floodlit ice track just 5 minutes from Levi, with two 15-minute driving sessions, full racing gear and a warm-up break by the fire in between.
First session: learn the ice. Second session: drive it better.
Ice karting isn't about completing a few demonstration laps. You get two separate 15-minute driving sessions, giving you time to understand how the kart behaves on ice and then put what you've learned into practice.
The program
The shuttle departs from Hissitie 11, in front of Kotipizza Levi (across from Zero Point). On arrival at the track, the group gathers in the drivers’ pit zone for a safety briefing and driving tips. Then into the racing gear: helmet, balaclava, shoes, gloves and overalls are all provided.
The program includes two driving sessions of approximately 15 minutes each. In between, the group warms up outdoors by an open fire with hot berry juice. The break is a natural opportunity to talk lap times and get ready for the second session.
On the circuit: studded tyres give grip but allow controlled slides. The quiet four-stroke engines respond clearly to throttle input, which makes it straightforward to learn the basics of driving on ice. The track and karts are the same for all experience levels - beginners and more experienced drivers use the same equipment.
Inspired by Finnish rally culture
Finland has produced more World Rally Championship drivers per capita than any other country. Ice karting at Levi is the easiest and most accessible way to understand why: the way a car behaves on ice - the slide, the correction, the throttle balance - is something you feel in the seat, not something you can watch from a distance. No licence, no previous experience, just 145 cm and a willingness to try.
Optional add-ons
Available on the day at the track: soup lunch in the warm café (soup, bread and butter, coffee or tea); snowtubing on two illuminated slides of different lengths (2-hour ticket from departure time). Spectators can join the transport subject to available capacity and a supplement charge.
Responsibility waiver
Scandinavian Travel Group is not responsible for changes, disruptions or unavailability affecting the ice karting track or any third-party venue. No refund is due for circumstances beyond our control. STG reserves the right to adjust the program if a participant is considered a danger to themselves or others or fails to follow safety instructions.
