WHY YOU´LL LOVE IT
Experience Levi fell after dark. Snowshoe from near the summit through quiet forest and open fell terrain, with the night sky above you.
Look for the northern lights along the way. Pause at a viewpoint above the village lights and watch the sky when conditions are suitable.
Enjoy the night even without an aurora display. On clear evenings, stars, moonlit snow and the stillness of the forest make the descent memorable in its own right.
Take a warming break outdoors. Stop with your guide for hot berry juice while you take in the view and the Arctic night.
THE EXPERIENCE
See what Levi feels like after the village lights fall behind you. A short transfer takes you near the top of the fell, where your guide leads a 2-4 km snowshoe descent through dark forest and open terrain. Stop for hot berry juice beneath the Arctic sky and watch for the northern lights when conditions allow. Then follow the trail down to Levi village, with no return transfer to wait for.
In the forest, the only light is what the group carries. The trees hold the snow on their branches. The sounds disappear. When the trail opens onto the fell, the sky appears - unobstructed, dark and very large. The guide stops at a viewpoint for hot berry juice. This is the moment the tour is built around: standing on the fell in the dark, looking up, with the village glow somewhere below and the Arctic night above.
The northern lights cannot be guaranteed. They require clear skies, solar activity, and luck. But the position here, above the village, open to the north is among the better spots near Levi for seeing them when the conditions are right. On nights when the aurora doesn’t appear, the stars and the moonlit snow make the same argument for being outside.
The descent is continuous downhill on uneven terrain. Not recommended for guests with knee problems, heart conditions or mobility limitations.
