A message from our CEO, Alexei Petrov: Dear travelers and tourism professionals, I am excited to introduce our brand-new reindeer experiences in Levi, designed specifically for the winter season: Experience Reindeer Like a Local with a Snowmobile Sled Reindeer Herder's Wilderness Day with a Snowmobile Sled These unique programs offer a rare opportunity to engage with wilder reindeer, who are not accustomed to tourist activities like sledding. Both experiences guarantee exclusive privacy for each group, with transportation to the location provided by snowmobile sleds. The Reindeer Herder's Day includes a longer journey, as both the arrival and return are via snowmobile sled. Guests are picked up from the Levi area and transported directly to their destination: the reindeer corral in the first program and a secluded old-growth forest in the second. Each location features brand-new huts (kotas) where you can warm up by an open fire and enjoy freshly prepared delicacies. We've also constructed raised platforms at both sites, offering breathtaking photo opportunities of the reindeer in their natural surroundings with stunning scenic backdrops. Please note that these programs do not involve reindeer rides. The reindeer here are not trained for tourist tasks like at other farms. However, under the guidance of an experienced herder, these semi-domesticated animals remain calm and safe around people. You can find more information about the programs in the presentation linked here: Download Presentation MEET THE REINDEER LIKE A LOCAL WITH A SNOWMOBILE SLED You will get dressed in warm winter clothing and sit in a snowmobile sled for a fun short ride through the snowy landscape coming straight into the reindeer corral. In a blink of an eye you will be surrounded by the “sea” of reindeer .   Meet the friendly reindeer man and live the day of the reindeer herder. Learn to catch and harness a reindeer, feed them  and discover lots of interesting facts about these wonderful animals. Experience reindeer life just like the locals do!   Capture stunning photos with the reindeer against the picturesque backdrop of Kätkä fell. Spend about almost an hour closely interacting with these arctic animals and connecting with nature .   When start feeling chilly, move inside a traditional Lappish tepee , warm up by the fire and sip on your choice of warm drink: herbal tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. Fry in the open fire locally made reindeer sausages and pancakes while listening stories about reindeer life. After this unforgettable experience,  we will return you to Levi by car. REINDEER HERDER'S DAY IN THE WILDERNESS WITH A SNOWMOBILE SLED Unique experience of meeting the reindeer in the wilderness and acquiring important skills of the reindeer taming in a small group.   We will go for a sled ride pulled by a snowmobile to the  private lands through the untouched nature and stop in a private forest. Here together with the reindeer man we will be looking for the reindeer family. As we find them, the host will introduce us to the reindeer husbandry culture.  You will learn how to catch a reindeer with a lasso, to put a harness, feed them. You will learn a lot of interesting facts about the reindeer  and have good chances to take many nice photos of the reindeer in nature. You will spend about 2 hours outside with these arctic animals, get to know them closer and experience what’s called  “a reindeer therapy”.      As you start to feel chilly, we will go inside a traditional Lappish hut.  Sitting by the open fire, we have a warm drink and grill local-made reindeer sausage and fry pancakes. The reindeer host will tell stories about the reindeer and the arctic way of living. You can ask him more questions if you feel like it. You will return to Levi the same way in a snowmobile sled. Program includes: Ride in a snowmobile sled to open bogs and forests, Program meet the reindeer in the forest, Introduction to reindeer husbandry culture, Taking photos with own cameras, Hot drink (herbal tea, coffee, or hot chocolate), Frying sausages and pancakes on the open fire in a warm teepee, Return transfer to Levi by a snowmobile sled, Warm winter clothing.
