Evening departure of a snowmobile safari will be a special experience to discover the magic of snowy forests in the night
As darkness falls in Levi, your Northern Lights snowmobile safari begins. After a short transfer, the engines start and we head into the quiet wilderness, following snowy trails and crossing frozen wetlands under the open sky.
The evening starts with a pickup from Levi and transfer to our safari house. There, you’ll receive full thermal gear: a snowmobile suit, boots, mittens, helmet, balaclava, and wool socks - everything needed to stay warm and comfortable.
Your guide will provide a safety briefing and basic driving instructions before we head out onto the trail.
Each tour is different - some nights offer clear stars, others bring snowfall or, if conditions are right, the aurora borealis may appear overhead.
A key highlight of this safari is access to private land. Much of the route runs on exclusive trails used only by our groups. This means no other traffic, allowing for a quiet and uninterrupted ride through the Arctic landscape.
About halfway through the tour, we stop at a private wilderness hut (kota), located in a wide, open swamp area. With 360-degree sky views and no light pollution, it’s one of the best spots in Levi for observing the Northern Lights. The location is far from roads, buildings, and artificial lights, offering ideal conditions for aurora viewing.
Inside the hut, you’ll warm up by the fire, grill a sausage, and enjoy a hot drink while keeping watch on the sky.

Standard price is given for one person on a double snowmobile or in a sledge. Solo driving is available for a singlesupplement. Child price is valid for a child under 130 cm seated in a sleigh.
Insurance covers accidents with a maximum driver excess of 800 €. You can buy a waiver for 20 € to lower the excess to 300 €. Waiver is available to buy only on the spot.

RECOMMENDATION
Please take your driving license with you on the snowmobile safari as the police may check the validity of the license during the safari.
We recommend wearing thermal body-wear + multilayer clothing and woolen socks. You will get warm outer clothing and boots before the safari.
For those people who consider self-rental: out there you’ll be surrounded by almost total whiteness, so it’s quite easy to lose one’s way for the first time, that’s why to guarantee the quality time, we highly recommend for the first time to go on an organized safari with an experienced local guide.

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 7 days or less before the event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 21 days or less before the event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 365 days or less before the event

Although Northern Lights sightings can never be guaranteed, this tour offers one of the best chances to see the aurora borealis in Levi. You'll enjoy an unforgettable evening under the Arctic sky, surrounded by the magic of Lapland’s winter wilderness.
Practical information:
Average snowmobile speed: 30–40 km/h (in line with safety regulations)
Two adults share one snowmobile unless a solo driving supplement is booked
Children under 130 cm ride in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile
Finnish law requires snowmobile drivers to be at least 15 years old and hold a valid driver’s license (B, T, A1, or A)
Alcohol tolerance is zero; drivers may be breathalyzed before the safari
Passengers must be at least 130 cm tall to ride on a snowmobile and must be able to reach the footrests
Sleighs (open-top, up to 8 persons) are always pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Small children should be accompanied by an adult
The official speed limit for snowmobiles in Finland is 60 km/h; driving is only permitted on marked trails

Pickups commence 15 to 45 minutes before the scheduled tour time. You will receive an email the day prior with your exact pickup time. If you do not receive this email, please contact us.
