During the tour we will visit both Arctic animals, reindeers and huskies. At the farm we get to meet the reindeer up close and take a short reindeer ride (1km) on a traditional sledge. Afterwards the reindeer herders will tell you stories about the reindeer and reindeer husbandry in Lapland. Next, they are waiting for us at the husky kennel, where the dogs are already eagerly awaiting their chance to do what they do best – to run. We will take off on a 5 km husky safari through the wilderness. When we return to the husky kennel, we have a chance to get to know the huskies a bit better before returning to the city by snowmobiles. During the tour we will enjoy delicious local lunch. INCLUDED PLEASE NOTE Pricing notes: Standard price is given for one person on a double snowmobile or in a sled. Solo driving is available as a supplement. Child price is valid for a child under 120 cm seated in a sleigh. Insurance covers accidents with a maximum driver excess of 1500 €. You can buy a waiver for 20 € to lower the excess to 350 €. The waiver is available to buy only on the spot. According to Finnish law, to drive a snowmobile one should be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license of category B, T, A1, or A (i.e. car or motorbike). Alcohol tolerance is zero, drivers will have to pass an alcohol test before the safari. A second passenger can sit behind the driver on the snowmobile if the person’s minimum height is about 140 cm and his/her feet can fully reach the footrests. Otherwise, this person should be seated in the sled. The sled is always pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. The sled has an open top and can take up to 8 persons. It’s advised that a small child seated in a sleigh is accompanied by an adult. The maximum speed limit is 60 km/h and 80 km/h on the lakes. Driving is only allowed on marked trails. WHAT'S INCLUDED PLEASE NOTE MEETING POINTS WATCH VIDEO We offer you a self-guided husky safari with a track length 10 km. Approximate riding time is 35-40 min This time can vary, as it always includes stop-over and it’s dependent on the weather conditions. During the stop-over musher and passenger can swap. Our destination is a small family-owned husky kennel, located about 30 min drive from Levi center. In our kennel we care for animals’ well-being: we only take small groups up to 10 people per ride (5 teams), no more than 3 groups per day and dogs get at least one day off in a week. Dogs are living a happy and healthy life in the kennel. On your visit you are guaranteed quality time with dogs. There is a separate area in the kennel where dogs can run free. You are welcome to visit this area and cuddle and pet the dogs and take photos with them. Our guide will talk about huskies’ life and history. Kennel owners are energetic professional sport dog mushers. They have well-trained Arctic-Alaskan huskies. This breed was created by crossbreeding in the beginning of 20th century in Alaska especially for dog racing during the Gold rush period. There are over 42 dogs in the kennel, including Siberian and Arctic-Alaskan huskies and 3 reindeer dogs. Upon arrival, we will start right away giving instructions for driving (mushing) the dog sled on your own and then immediately proceed to the starting point for the ride, where dogs teams are fully ready and anxiously waiting to start running. Focus on the thrill of riding your own sled to enjoy it. The best part of the mushing is not just the ride. It’s about building a bond with these incredible husky dogs. By the end of the ride, you’ll feel part of the team. The track length is 10 km and approximate riding time is 30-40 min. The ride time can vary, as it always includes stop-over and it’s dependent on the weather conditions. During the stop-over musher and passenger can swap. The track lies partly in the forest and partly on a beautiful frozen river. After the ride we have a chance to say thanks to our runners and take photos with them. We will walk around the kennel to meet the other dogs and then cuddle and pet the dogs and take photos with them in a special area of the kennel. Then we invite you inside our cozy hut (kota) to warm up around the open fire, having hot berry juice with cookies. The host will talk about life with the dogs and answer questions. Note! In cold weather, we recommend applying no-water based winter cream for face and cover tightly open skin areas. Bring gloves or better mittens, a good hat, hand/foot warmers and goggles. Please take off your gloves/mittens when touching the huskies. They love to play with gloves and might break it easily. Do not be afraid of the dogs, as they are genetically friendly to people. They were informed about the tours and told us cool facts about the activities we did. We had the 10km husky sledge safari and a northern lights tour which was an amazing unique experience you should definitely consider. Keep in mind that the husky farm told us there gets much colder than in Levi, so we did it in almonds -30 degrees. Make sure you dress warm or request extra over alls from them. We got to pet the dogs and ask questions after the activity. WHAT'S INCLUDED PLEASE NOTE MEETING POINTS WATCH VIDEO Our destination is a small f amily-owned husky kennel , located about 30 min drive from Levi center. In our kennel we care for animals’ well-being: we only take small groups up to 10 people per ride (5 teams)*, no more than 3 groups per day and dogs get at least one day off in a week. Dogs are living a happy and healthy life in the kennel. On your visit you are guaranteed quality time with dogs. There is a separate area in the kennel where dogs can run free. You are welcome to visit this area and cuddle and pet the dogs and take photos with them. Our guide will talk about huskies’ life and history. Kennel owners are energetic professional sport dog mushers. They have well-trained Arctic-Alaskan huskies. This breed was created by crossbreeding in the beginning of 20th century in Alaska, especially for dog racing during the Gold rush period. There are over 42 dogs in the kennel, including Siberian and Arctic-Alaskan huskies and 3 reindeer dogs. Upon arrival, we will start right away giving instructions for driving (mushing) the dog sled on your own and then immediately proceed to the starting point for the ride, where dogs teams are fully ready and anxiously waiting to start running. Focus on the thrill of riding your own sled to enjoy it. The best part of the mushing is not just the ride. It’s about building a bond with these incredible husky dogs. By the end of the ride, you’ll feel part of the team. The track length is 5 km and approximate riding time is 20-30 min. The ride time can vary, as it always includes stop-over and it’s dependent on the weather conditions. During the stop-over musher and passenger can swap. The track lies partly in the forest and partly on a beautiful frozen river. After the ride we have a chance to say thanks to our runners and take photos with them. We will walk around the kennel to meet the other dogs and then cuddle and pet the dogs and take photos with them in a special area of the kennel. Then we invite you inside our cozy hut (kota) to warm up around the open fire, having hot berry juice with cookies. The host will talk about life with the dogs and answer questions. Note! We don’t recommend this program for very small children (under 4 y.o.) due to longer time outdoors. We don’t recommend this program for very small children (under 4 y.o.) due to longer time outdoors. We strongly recommend wearing warm winter clothing. It can be rented separately before the departure from the Safarimarket office in Levi center at extra charge. If you want to rent the clothing, please be at least 20 min before pick up time to get dressed. It’s better to be overly warm dressed than “underdressed”, especially on longer safari programs. In cold weather, we recommend applying no-water based winter cream for face and cover tightly open skin areas. Bring own gloves or better mittens, a good hat, hand/foot warmers and goggles. Please take off your gloves/mittens when touching the huskies. They love to play with gloves and might break it easily. Do not be afraid of the dogs, as they are genetically friendly to people. Do not feed the dogs. We recommend that you wear ski goggles on safari to protect your eyes from ice floes. Goggles are not provided. The seating arrangements described below are for guidance only. The final seating decision is always made on site by the host, as it depends on safety considerations such as participants’ weight, height, and overall group composition. One sledge can take max. 2 adults + 1 small child (under 7 y.o.). Final decision about seating is taken by the host on the spot, as it may depend on the participant's weight, height, etc. When your party is 2 persons: 1 adult + a child older than 7 y.o., you can seat in one sled, paying adult price and child price. When your party is 3 persons: 2 adults + a child older than 7 y.o., one of the 3 persons will have to share a sled with another participant. Single driving is not available for a supplement. Here in a relaxed country-side family atmosphere in his cozy old Christmas cabin, Santa spends long evenings meeting his good friends from around the world. There are never queues to his place, because the program is arranged exclusively for our group. Luckily the place is within 15 minutes reach from Levi center. Santa’s secret cabin is a historical building dating back more than 100 years back with a unique ambiance. Inside the house you will find an old post station of Santa Claus with a bunch of children’s letters, old Santa’s rocking chair, beautiful Christmas decorations, including the Christmas tree and lots of historical artefacts of Finnish and Lappish lifestyle. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Santa with his reindeer Rudolf and his helper Elf. You can see and take photos next to Mr. Claus’ magic sleigh with Santa, Rudolf reindeer and Elf. You can take as many photos during any part of the program as you wish for unforgettable memories.
